NohKohWaa’s Adult worker will support person’s with developmental disabilities (P.D.D.) by providing assistance in case management to residents at NohKohWaa’s Supportive living program. The worker will help residents to reconnect to their community, family, cultural identity and become more independent through assisting their goal setting. The Adult Worker enhances balanced living, along with community integration, life and job skills development, financial stability, socio-cultural activities, while ensuring their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs are being met. Also must be able to keep accurate electronic case notes, computer records, program information, and critical incident reports in a timely manner. Will be required to attend scheduled staff & management meetings.

Requirements & Qualifications
  • Post-secondary certificate in health care or supportive community caregiver/life skills background an asset Minimum I year experience working in an Adult Care setting
  • In-depth understanding of the Residential facilities/lndigenous culture
  • Child welfare intervention check/criminal check or proof of submission
  • Drivers abstract, 2-million-dollar insurance liability & valid class 5 Drivers Licence
  • Knowledge of Blackfoot and/or Indigenous language an asset
  • Experience working in Indigenous communities a must

NohKohWaa’s Health Care Aide Worker provides personalized support services to residents at the Adult Complex next door to the NohKohWaa Family & Youth Centre building in Fort Macleod. The Health Care Aide Worker will assist residents to be as independent as possible in the community. Health Care Aide will ensure the safety of the residents, communicating, observing, and reporting on residents’ conditions to promote harm reduction model of services while promoting confidentiality and security of personal health info by providing education, information and support regarding health promotion and disease prevention. Must be able to work collaboratively as a team member and follow care plans as delegated by medical doctor/nurse/nutritionist. Assist residents in all activities of daily living including hygiene, medication, redirecting, reminding, bathing, grooming, linen changes as needed. Must be able to maintain accurate documentation, according to established procedures, reflecting residents’ condition, care, and treatments. Attend staff meetings, case conferences and clinical triages to share challenges and successes. Strong documentation skills are required.

Nohkohwaa Program Supervisor manages approved program goals and the vision for the Centre. They will coordinate and supervise activities between all the Nohkohwaa programs. They are responsible for supervision of the program Team Leads and implementing the program delivery. This position is also responsible for overseeing budgets, proposal writing, strategic oversight, and a developed detailed understanding of the wholistic approach. They are also the leads in licensing and accreditation for the Centre and for completing program reports and ensuring individual client assessments are forwarded to social workers, counsellors and/or educators. The Program Supervisor reports directly to the Executive Director through monthly meetings, monthly reports, and ongoing communication. The Program

Supervisor is guided by Nohkohwaa’s Program Standards, the Youth/Child, the Ministry of Children Services, Licensing, Canadian Accreditation Standards, and the Indigenous ways of knowing. This position reports to Executive Director.

Qualification Requirements:
  • 2 years’ experience in management
  • Degree or Diploma in Social Work and/or Human Services
  • Child Welfare Intervention check/ Criminal Record check or Proof of submission
  • In-depth understanding of child & family/protection services/group home settings
  • 2-million Dollar Liability Insurance on Vehicle o Drivers Licence Abstract

As a Team lead you will follow your job description. Must be able to do shiftwork and on call hours (wknds, evenings & holidays). Must be able to supervise and manage staff, scheduling staff hours, conflict resolution skills, solve problems fast and strong multi-tasking abilities. Must be good at rolling out and coordinating programs. Able to implement Quality Improvement within the program. You will report to the NohKohWaa Program Supervisor. Team Leads will motivate and inspire their team by creating an environment that promotes positive communication, encourages bonding of team members, and demonstrates flexibility.

  • Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Social Work and/or Human Services
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a child and youth care setting
